This compact shrub produces radiant single flowers with five petals, ranging from deep crimson to bright scarlet, and releases a subtle, pleasant fragrance. Known as the earliest blooming Drift Rose variety, it delivers flowers sooner and longer than most, giving gardeners extended seasonal interest. The bold red blooms contrast beautifully with healthy green foliage that stays attractive for much of the year, making this rose a standout in beds, borders, and containers. Scarlet Drift® Rose thrives in USDA Zones 5 through 11 and performs best in full sun with at least 6 to 8 hours of direct light daily. Mature plants reach about 1 to 2 feet tall and spread up to 2 feet wide, creating a dense carpet of color. Plant in well drained, fertile soil with good air circulation and water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during hot or dry periods. Apply a slow release rose fertilizer in early spring and again in mid summer to support continuous flowering. Deadheading spent blooms encourages fresh growth and repeat blooms all season long.
